We just found out that my husband is going to be transfered to Montrose, CO for his job. We are very excited! I have two kids, one in elementary and one in middle school. We love the outdoors, have pets, and horses. I think it will be a great place for us. I am just hoping to get some information on the town and the surrounding areas. I have looked at rentals, and there really aren't any that fit what we need (mostly having trouble finding a home that has room for horses). I also will have to find a job for myself! Please, if you have any info (especially since I have never moved, much less my children) please let me know!

You can start with a forum search to see existing discussions about Montrose. Also, when you to go city-data.com and enter Montrose, CO under city name, you will find all sorts of demographic information.

The City of Montrose website looks like you can find just about anything to do with the city. It's Welcome to CITYOFMONTROSE.COM I'd check the Chamber of Commerce website for relocation information.

You might consider looking at places to board the horses and just renting a regular house for the time being and then looking for a place to rent or buy with the horses at at a later date.
