I live in Florence, the prison have no negative impact on the town. From a mayors study, most prison workers live elsewhere and drive in as they have established families in Pueblo, Colorado Springs, etc. you see them at the gas pumps filling up to go home.
Florence is a great affordable little historical town.

If you re-read my post, you will see that I was referring to that population of hunters who delight in their kills by showing them off, as rednecks. I was not saying that all hunters are rednecks. Saying that I was not ready for small town Co. living just because I might have some trouble with one aspect of that life, seems unfair. My experience with "rednecks" where I live are those people who are hard drinkers, "I'll do what I want, despite the law or how if affects anyone else, because I have the right to do so." Despite the dictionary definition; my experience definition.

Well... sorry to drift off the wonderful topic at hand... but being the thread was bumped up... let's put it to use, shall we?

Anybody in the Canon City area (Sheridan, Sesamekid, etc.) know if there might be some hotel/motel availability now... and maybe which specific ones? I'd heard someone mention this in the Colorado wildfire thead to remember to look to Canon City for shelter and not just Pueblo which may be full now.

Anyone with info might want to post on Facebook on the Channel 13 KRDO site because they just made mention of the availability at the Convention Center but I'd bet that will fill up soon given some 32,000+ displaced evacuees.
