72 degrees last week. Why do I feel like that was months ago?

Funny, here in NC (Charlotte area) there were some people complaining at how warm it is/was last week. We heard some say, "It's hard to get into the Christmas Spirit when the temperature is in the upper 70's." I told some people here, "Watch what you ask for! Last Christmas Holiday we were living in Parker, CO and a number of the locals wanted to know if there was going to be a "White Christmas". Well, the area got their "White Christmas" alright, in the form of a blizzard they called The Holiday Blizzard. We are sure you folks in this Denver forum remember that snow. We sure do! That blizzard ended up having me get a shoulder surgery due to a fall by our driveway. That was enough of the Denver metro area winters for us......we moved.

Ha ha ha ha! As if last winter was remotely typical of "Denver metro area winters".
I think you just wanted an excuse to move somewhere else! Going by your name, somewhere on a coast or near real lakes so you can actually enjoy boating!

Yes, a hip replacement in 2005 and the shoulder surgery in 2007 was more than enough for us to say " 5 1/2 years was more than enough of Denver winters." At our age (58/59), I didn't want to fall in ice/snow again or have my wife fall and possible be disabled for life. Then again, the lakes here in NC do make Chatfield and Cherry Creek look like small ponds.

I believe it. Growing up in Michigan, I laughed (hard) at what Colorado calls a "lake". If you can see from one shore to the other at its widest point, it's not a lake. Certainly not if you're the sailing type, anyway. Take care of yourself, you can still fall in a lot of other situations that have nothing to do with winter...

I certainly agree with the above. All summer long, people were posting about wanting to move here and live near the water. I would say that CO doesn't have many lakes, especially those suitable for boating or swimming. Others would come on and disagree. I think saying CO has a lot of lakes is like saying MN has skiing: true, but it misses the point. This is not a water sports state.

However, when we took our boat to either Chatfield or Cherry Creek, we sure saw a number of boats and wave runners both on the water and getting ready to launch. We didn't take our boat, but on Father's Day a few years ago, we stopped by Cherry Creek and there were boats/waverunners lined up all the way from the Parker Road Park Entrance to the boat launch area. There was almost a 2 hour wait to get on the water. You might not think that Colorado is a "boating State", but just drive by Pueblo Lake, Chatfield, Horsetook, Cherry Creek or one of the others in the middle of the summer and that might change your mind quickly. Colorado is not Michigan or Florida, but people there still love to "boat".

Yes, but "falling" can/is very different than "slipping" on ICE and falling. I have fallen before and never had the fall require surgery.

I fell at 3:00 am on my way to the bathroom last year as I tripped over my cat and ended up with a mild concussion, a black eye, two cat bites and four claw marks. It is a dangerous world out there.
