My boyfriend and animals are moving to Durango at the end of this month. We are making an offer on a house and are looking for a pretty cheap month to month place to live until we are able to close on the house. We have a letter of recommendation from our landlord for the animals. I have searched the herald and rent durango etc does anyone have any other suggestions?? any help would be great! Thanks!!!

Check all the realtors and property management companies in town. I assume you've already talked with your own realtor about property management thru his or her company.

Congratulations on the move & good luck with the closing.

We had the best luck with the Herald. We tried agencies, but they were focused on vacation rentals, which were ridiculously expensive.

Here's a thought since you're thinking short-term. There was an article in the Durango-Herald about a month ago which mentioned that many hotels cater to short-term renters, seems like $800ish/mo is fairly standard. Sorry, I'm too lazy to link the article but it may still be in their system.

800 sounds normal to me as well. Four Winds is an older motel on 160 west that converted to monthly rentals a couple years back. It is not real townhomes and while I don't know anyone that has ever stayed there I see kids playing outside sometimes when I drive by.

OP, I heard of a studio renting for less than $600/mo., ALL utilities included, cable, too! That's unheard of for the area. It's also in a converted motel and it's on 550 in Trimble, roughly ten miles north of Durango. The guy who mentioned it also lives there and he was very complimentary of the property. He also mentioned I am the fourth person he's given the phone number so you might want to move on it quickly if interested. Message me if you want the phone number.

Stay away from the four winds. Almost every hotel/motel in Durango that rents month to month are filled with drunks, druggies and generally bad people.
