I know this is a bit of a stretch, but does anyone know the location in Colorado of this photo?

This picture was taken from a wallpaper site and this was titled Summer in the Alps, this isn't Colorado.

For some reason that's the kind of image a lot of people from outside the area have in mind when they think of Colorado, but Colorado isn't anything like that at all. Yes, you were lied to, big time. This is more what it's really like:

Default This, too, is Colorado!

And, lest we forget, this, too, is what Colorado really looks like.

Photo, taken by Renee Rondeau of Colorado Natural Heritage Program (CNHP), shows the Upper Purgatoire Canyon in southeastern Colorado. The organization undertook a "bioblitz" in conjunction with the Rocky Mountain Bird Observatory and Denver Botanical Gardens in 2010.

Here is what it looks like, just a very few miles east of COLO SPGS, with Pikes Peak in the background. Enlarge the pix to better see the terrain.
