I agree. I don't understand why it is so imortant to be able to get alcohol 24/7. I studied alcoholism in grad school. People who are obsessed with alcohol frequently have a drinking problem.

I wonder if people that are obsessed with people obsessed with alcohol used to have a problem with drinking?
![]() Anyway, back to the topic. They measure "3.2 beer" by weight (abw), which equals about 4.0% by volume (abv). A typical light macrolager beer is about 4 to 4.5% abv anyway so you aren't loosing a significant amount of alcohol with 3.2% (abw) if you buy light beer. The issue is when you are a customer that prefers microbeers, which are typically 5% abv or more. I haven't tried a 3.2 microbeer next to the same regular microbeer to see if they taste different so I can't comment on it. Several of New Belgium's beers, such as Abbey or Triple, are usually 7-8% abv but I doubt you'll find them in the grocery store anyway. On the other hand, Guinness on tap has only 4.2% abv. That equals about 3.4% abw, only 0.2% higher than "3.2 beer". I find it funny when people think they drink Guinness draft, they think it's really strong because it's really dark. Not all beers are created equal. Know your beer. Respect beer. Last edited by Rumblebelly; 06-08-2008 at 10:19 AM. |

If you're referring to me, I have a number of alcoholics in my family. It was helpful to learn that stuff. I don't "enable" any more.

Please, don't take my comment too seriously though. Also, I wasn't directing it directly to you. I was trying to lighten the mood a bit and I'm well aware of how alcohol can ruin lives. Last edited by Rumblebelly; 06-08-2008 at 11:10 AM. |

Ha, well regardless of how you all feel, July 1st, it's all over. Liquor stores will now be allowed to be open on Sundays, if they wish. It's not mandatory. But I can sure as hell bet you that they 99% of them will be, once they see the extra revenue it will generate.
Oh, and also, regular stores will be selling regular beer. Not that 3.2% pee water. |
