oh my god, saw the smoke from Cripple Creek - and I said to my husband "that's a new fire!"

So, so close to the westside! very scary.

Another fire burning on Bondad Hill along US550 near the Colorado/New Mexico border south of Durango. Lots of radio traffic going on that one.

Have news on, and there are nine fires burning here now, if I'm counting right. Was it 2002 that the then governor said, "all Colorado's burning"? Might be true this year.

They just announced on our NBC affiliate station that these fires are now under federal jurisdiction.

Great news, that frees up more resources to help.

The High Park fire has been a federal fire since the first week.

Now a fire is burning in Waldo Canyon, up in the Rampart range just NW of Garden of the Gods, over 2000 acres, zero containment. I hope they catch the SOB that's intentionally setting these fires.

Unfortunately, I am stuck 9000 miles away from home and I can't do anything. The evacuation area is VERY close to my home. If the fire keeps burning to the northwest, I'll be out of danger, but god help everyone if the wind starts blowing south east. Garden of the Gods is closed off to traffic at the moment.

I may have nothing left to come home to if they cant get it under control.
