Hi guys,

I was trying to see if I can get a ittle insight about living in Littleton, CO. I'm curious if it's a really nice place to raise a family, we currently have 5 kids and looking to raise our kids somewhere other then CA.
I'm curious as to the home prices, could we get a 5 bedroom home for $250,000? I see that the schools are good, but I want to know how people live. Is there lots to do for a young family? Is the job market ok, my husband is in IT? I've seen on a few threads tht crime is bad, but wanted to know how are the neighborhoods in Littleton or do you recommed another area.
Any insight you can give to living in CO would be great.

With 5 kids there is no way I would move without having a firm job offer. In this economy it may take a very long time before either of you get a job.

If you have never been here I recommend you visit.

Also I would not buy a house at first, I would rent and make sure that is where I actually wanted to settle before commiting to buying a home in an area I realized I did not like and due to the sluggish real estate market we are now stuck in.

Five bedrooms in a good neighborhood you would need to up the price from 250k.

There are some IT jobs in COLO SPGS, many are defense related jobs that require a security clearance, but other IT jobs do exist here.

Wal-Mart is in the final stages of building a major data center here, I can see it from my house, and FEDEX has plans to bring the remainder of its data center here from Memphis. IMO, more will follow. Might be an IT job here for him.

On realtor.com I found NINE rentals of at least 5BR, in zip 80920, with some of the best schools in COLO SPGS. These are a 5-minute drive in NO traffic to the two work sites I mentioned above. Here's the search string on that inquiry.

I found six more 5BR rentals in zip 80921, also with great schools and near those two work sites.

As far as home buying in 80920, I found nine 5BR homes for $250k or less, same good schools and easy drive. I found two such homes in zip 80921 for $250k or less.

So, homes in your price range are here, if you can find a job to pay for it.
