My husband and I are driving to the Boulder and Lyons area in June of this year. We will be travelling with 5 and 6 year old boys. I am interested to see if anyone has made this drive with kids, and any tips on things to do, places to stay, and route to take to get us cross country.

Thanks!

You will take I-70 most of the way. Once you get to Denver you would take I-270 to US 36.

You can go in the St. Louis Arch.

My suggestion is to drive through Kansas at night while the kids sleep.

Agreed that Kansas scenery will not captivate your little ones. But be sure that everybody is awake when you get that first glimpse of those snow-covered Colorado mountains in the distance.

I drove from Colorado Springs to Philadelphia- on the way there we stopped in Kansas City and then Columbus Ohio, and then on the way back we stopped once in St. Louis.

Two fifteen hour days of driving was pretty horrific with a couple little ones.
