At the invitation of the DOD, a small contingent of Russian soldiers will be arriving in Colorado soon for unprecedented war-games with US troops.[1]

Details are sketchy, but ostensibly they will spend most of their time at Ft. Carson and in the mountains in exercises targeted towards "terrorists." There were earlier reports, unconfirmed, that some of these excises might entail paratroops capturing DIA, as well as associated CIA and NSA facilities.[2]

Given that the US government has been in contingency planning towards widespread civil unrest, mass detentions and implementation of martial law, some have expressed the concern that such war-game exercises with foreign troops, of which the Russians are not the first, are precursors towards this. That the US government would necessarily rely on foreign mercenaries in situations of widespread civil unrest when members of American law enforcement and military would refuse direct action against American citizens.

It might be remembered that Vladimir Putin was recently 'reelected' in fraudulent elections. And that Russia is any type of democracy in name only.

From what I've been able to dig up, they ARE going to be at Ft. Carson but they aren't going to be doing those DIA, CIA, etc. things. Still, it's creepy.

And no it's not creepy, even during the cold war we had liaison and exchanges with the Russians.

When it comes down to it, there is really no reason to be enemies with Russia and never have been, except for their dalliance with totalitarianism. They are a useful ally in containing China and the jihadis in central asia and the middle east.

There's something about the visual of a Russian Spetznaz trooper sticking the barrel of an AK-47 up the tailpipe of one of DIA's professional TSA crotch-gropers that makes me smile...

I think it would be funny if Wolverines! started getting spray painted around where them Ruskies were. If I wasn't so far from there...
