We are relocating from Florida to the Rifle area very soon. My husband is moving with a job but I wanted to get an idea of the job market out in these areas because I will also need to work. I have been employed in banking, mortgage, finance, and clerical for many years. How is the job market looking right now for these fields? Im also curious about how competitive the job market is in Garfield county as well.

Any information you could provide would be helpful.

I'm not sure if you have visited the area, but it is rural. Glenwood probably has the most job opportunities, Rifle and New Castle are small. Below are links to the Post Independent and the craigslist sites, check both the High Rockies and Western Slope, since the area lies on the edge of each.

Thank you for the information. I grew up there as a child and lived there through high school and now relocating with my family back to that area but I didnt know about job opportunities in my field since I am not in the natural gas industry. I understand its rural, but I know that there should still be banks, finance companies, mortgage services, accounting, etc... I just wasnt sure of some companies maybe near Glenwood that could be hiring, and was curious as to how the competition is for these type jobs.

If we live in Rifle, is it completely un-doable to work in Grand Junction? I may have an opportunity to transfer with my job there but I know the commute would be bad.
We really prefer to live in Rifle, my husbands job will be in Glenwood. We also have family in Rifle and we would love to have our kids go to the same schools we went to as a kid.
