My windshield cracked from using the defroster one cold morning - didn't know the chip was there (near the bottom edge) until it cracked - that was over a year ago, guess I should get it replaced sometime soon. I've also had them crack from sitting in the hot sun - literally expanding the air in the cab until the windshield gives way. Once the glass is compromised by a chip, it will crack eventually whether due to temperature changes or impact shocks from bumpy roads.

Many of us dinosaurs recall the annual safety inspections but those were the days before temprered glass was common in autos. Cracked windshields are just a fact of life in CO these days.

Rough Roads - meaning washboard dirt roads that jar your teeth and bounce the sunglassess off of your face
