Sorry, but there is NOTHING between the Denver Metro area and the foothills; the city bumps right up to and a bit into the foothills. And sorry again, but anything with an awesome view of moutains, streams, rivers, etc is going to be VERY expensive. We all hate traffic, but even way up into the mountains there is going to be commuter traffic, all folks who share your dream and have settled for less than perfection.
Do you telecommute or work out of your home? If not, you're going to be dealing with traffic traffic traffic too, or your family is going to settle for a very quiet small town far from any sort of city lights.
Check out all the other threads on this site featuring folks with dreams similar to yours and see what the cummunal advice is. then take a deep breath and figure out what compromises you all can live with.

Golden has been the place we been researching and all looks good there but it might be a bit expensive...as far as location we want to be somewhere near golden at least for our first year...It seems like it is located in a good spot to go all directions without being to far from anything..

Golden can be good, especially as a "gateway" into the mountains as well as close to shopping of all kinds, but it ain't cheap and it is very crowded and suburbian, and getting more so every day. And, depending on your way in and out, the commute can be as urban and nasty as it comes.

well we are coming from a very crowded city life in cape coral, fort myers florida area and have lived in the albany ny area all our life...we prefer the slower life and moving to golden area might be better then here but might not be as slow as albany...We can always rent our first year until we find what we really want when we are living there. As far as geographically, would that area in or around golden be a good first year place to be ??? We are white and prefer majority white...also coming from a heavy mexican population and would like to avoid that(not that theirs anything wrong with it)!!!

Oh, well, Florida (been there, hated the summers, the creepy crawly critters, and the humidity). But it's not really any slower here. And there are large pockets of hispanics spread out all over the Front Range and it's often cheaper to live near them -- but generally speaking they aren't as rowdy and outspoken as Cubans, if that's what you're worried about. Golden is, indeed, a good place to scout the entire area from, especially if you can find a job that isn't a total pain to get to.

No rivers around metro Denver to speak of. I've lived in Albany, and believe me, there's nothing like the Hudson or the Mohawk around here. A few streams and creeks is about it. The Poudre is up by Ft. Collins.

You have indicated that Golden "might be a bit expensive"
and you have a requirement:
"We are white and prefer majority white...also coming from a heavy mexican population and would like to avoid that(not that theirs(sic) anything wrong with it)!!!"
Well, to be honest, If Golden is too expensive, then you have limited choices because Golden in not on the high end. Because your "white" requirement is in areas that would definitely be much more expensive.
Since Colorado is in the Southwest, the largest concentration of Mexican Americans in the Country --the best option for you is: Do not come We like out diversity and it will happily get more diverse and be more "Mexican".
I grew up in New York, went to school on the Hudson. I am very impressed with Colorado and the tolerance for diversity and the how well different ethnic groups live together. My best advice is--this is not a good place for you, and you are are not good for Colorado--not that there is anything wrong with you!!!
