Default Favorite neighborhood to live in Denver!!!

Hey everyone,
My boyfriend and I are moving to Denver from NYC next week and since we've never been there I need a little help.
We are looking for an apt somewhere fun, busy and safe, especially cuz we have to ride our bikes everywhere even at night.
Is Capitol Hill,Cheeseman Park or City park a good choice?

Don't know much about it, but my wife used to live in Cap Hill (9th and Sherman) and despite its been situated in the middle of everything, astride some of the big streets (Speer, Lincoln, Broadway, etc) it was very safe, high density, relatively cheap (of course the apts are pretty small), and close to everything...you could walk easily to a dozen or more restaraunts, the capital, Govenor's Park, two museums, CU campus ar Araria (little longer walk however), Denver Arts Center, etc. It was pretty cool, but again, small apartments...I'm sure there are bigger ones there though.

The Washington Park is also very nice, safe, much more "house" oriented but close to the DU campus, of course the park, safe, close to the freeways for access to other areas etc.

Hope CO meets your dreams...
