We are wanting to move to one of these two towns. Any advice, pros or cons or suggestions are welcome. Thanks in advance and God Bless.

You might want to give a little more information about what you are looking for in regards to a community in order for people to help you out. Will you need jobs, housing budget, activities, etc? Without a bit more info, this would be a better topic for the general moving forum.

Do you like it sunny or more cloudy? Salida itself is almost a desert. The area around it in the mountains does get a lot more precipatation. I have been through Columbia Falls 3 or 4 times and it is always cloudy. I suspect the economy is a little better in Salida but I wouldn't say either town is the best place to find a job. If I was into outdoor activities, which I am, I would choose Salida because it has more dry days and even winter days aren't too cold if the sun is shining. Salida is an excellent place to live if you like cycling, hiking, skiing, camping or river rafting. It is also good for rock hounding.
