My husband and I are hoping to move to Colorado by next year, in time for our twin daughters to start kindergarten. He is a high-school science teacher who is qualified to teach all areas in the subject; he has taught physics, chemistry, AP biology, and environmental science in the past six years of his teaching career. I am not sure whether this will make him any more marketable or not in CO (it does here in Texas), but he is also bilingual in English/Spanish.

My main concern is about the CDE application process as it applies to out-of-state teachers. I understand an up-to-date fingerprint card must be submitted. My question is whether the "local law enforcement agency" referenced in the fingerprint card document must be based in Colorado, or whether this can be obtained in Texas and mailed to the CDE offices in Denver.

Thanks in advance for any advice.

It can be mailed to Colorado, I did just that when I had a CT license but lived in VA and was moving to CO. I used fingerprint cards that were available to be through VA, so it didn't have to be a special CO fingerprint card.
