Grandby is primarily a tourist town with tourist pricing, although with the beetle kill up that way, the forests are no longer as scenic as they used to be. It would be an adventure getting back and forth to work from there. Better to check out the Empire area first.

Another question, is the Henderson mine the same as the Henderson mill? I am sure I will find out soon enough when I go back out there. I will be working at the Henderson mill which looks like it is west of the mine, or is it one and the same. Like I said I will get the answers when I go out there but I am curious about the area.

The mine and mill are two separate facilities connected by a rail line through the mountains.

It looks like the Mill is on the west side of the Continental Divide, while the Mine is on the east side. That makes a big difference! Now I know why you were talking about Granby. To get to the Mine you'd have to drive over Berthoud Pass, but not to get to the Mill. You definitely need to be in Colorado to check all this out.

My neighbors who work at Climax claim that the Henderson mine is near the end of its productivity. I'm not a geologist so I couldn't say for sure. If you situate yourself between Henderson and Climax (the moly mine near Leadville), you could commute to either mine. Since Climax has a longer lifespan, you could pick up shifts there if you were ever layed off at Henderson.

Well it is official I will be starting at the Henderson Mill in November. Now does anyone have some leads on rental properties?
