We live in Florida and are ready to move to Colorado. Not familiar with the area, would prefer commuting distance to Denver. We have a granddaughter who will need a good school, but would prefer to live in a county setting. What areas would be most suitable? Husband is self employed and I work in the financial industry. Any information would be most welcomed! thank you

I'll be the first to say: do a search. Go to "Advanced search" "where to live" and "Colorado". This type of thread comes up four times a week and we've all answered them about as much as we can. It's all been covered.

A stereotypical "country setting" is had to come by in Colorado. This is mainly due to the lack of water and laws governing access to water. Without a large amount of money, a person is unlikely to get acreage and water rights to that acreage.

The only areas that get enough precipitation to qualify for the "country setting," are in the mountains, where real estate is very expensive and risky. This year about 600 homes burned to the ground as a result of wildfires in the mountains.
