Anyone familiar with the rental market in BV? We are considering buying a 3-bedroom, 2-bath house for future retirement and want to rent it out in the meantime. I know that we won't be able to make enough to cover expenses, but I'm curious as to what the demand is for a nice house in the $1200-$1500 range. We've talked with a local property management company and just am looking for an unbiased opinion.
thanks! |

I don't know firsthand what the market is like but have you checked out the Denver Craigslist? You can look under rentals and also under real estate if you're looking to buy something out there just to get a comparison.
I also found some listings in Buena Vista for this range: $425 per month for a small one bedroom house to $1400 per month for a 3 bedroom house on 40 acres of horse property. Most of our properties are single family homes...etc. Depending on what type of retirement home you are looking to buy, you could consider offering vacation rentals. You might be able to make enough on these type of rentals annually to pay your mortgage. |

thanks, Carrie. I checked VRBO and none of the houses listed had much on their calendars. That's why we thought a year-round rental would be better.

Try TeamFunz I think they have two places. Also, do a search for Mt. Princeton hot springs vacation rentals. I went to Buena Vista a few years ago and loved it there. Good luck.
