The Colorado state parks webpages are updated with fall conditions. Golden Gate Canyon is saying this weekend and next weekend for peak, I might head out there this weekend for a hike, not sure yet

Check the conditions page under each park

Went up to the Grand Mesa today, some leaves are turning, some are already off, some still green. There's enough color up there to make the trip worth it.

I saw some hints of fall in the lower country recently. I love how Fall in Colorado starts so early in the high country and lasts so long by slowly lowering into the valley. So in Colorado the fall colors last much longer than in the east (sorry again).

A patch of aspens turning yellow is nothing worth traveling hundreds or thousands of miles to see, when you could go see scenes like this in Virginia, Vermont, Michigan, etc. I guesse maybe if its not all about the color, but just what the yellow adds to the already pretty landscape... but I have met people who think Aspens turning yellow is the most amazing thing ever... I have to think they have never been east in the fall.
I grew up in Pennsylvania, and thought the leaves were beautiful there. My dad always thought people were crazy to go to New England when we had our own leaves to look at. And I will say, fall is usually Western PA's best season. When we first came here, I kind of felt as above. As we have lived here longer, and I've lived in metro Denver longer than I lived anywhere else, I began to think more like "it ain't much, but it's all we've got". Now, I kind of feel like Snikt, and I think both are great in their own way.

While I've yet to see a fall color display back east, I have to agree that Colorado has a spectacular display! I was so happy that the leaves are changing early this season because I got to see what I so miss about Colorado!

Here are a few pics I took of the colors changing up at Cottonwood Lake near Buena Vista. These pictures were taken September 9th, so I imagine that area is in full color glory right now!
