I think we hit the peak of color on the Grand Mesa yesterday. For the most part, the yellows were absolutely brilliant. We ate lunch on the banks of a small lake. On the south facing shore of the lake, some of the aspens were still green. Across the lake on the north facing shore, many of the aspens were already bare. At one point during the hike, a steady wind picked up and we were walking thru a cascade of falling leaves. That was nice! If I get back up to the mesa again next weekend, I expect to see alot of bare aspens, but this weekend just past was brilliant.

Can you tell me how to get there from Denver? That's gorgeous! We'd like to go on a drive this weekend.

Edited to add: Never mind, I just googled it, and it's definitely not a short drive from Denver, lol. Darn!
