Sadly I think the storm is going to miss Pueblo. The low pressure tracked to far north.

This storm system seems to have passed us in Mesa County. Grand Junction and Fruita? Zilch.

Now as far as temperatures go, things are going to be interesting around here. It will dip down to 20 tonight and possibly tomorrow night as well. The fruit growers are going to be up against it, for sure.

The temperature in the west-central valleys has already dropped into the mid-20's and it isn't even dark yet. With this, most of the 2013 fruit crop will likely be killed tonight. Budding or opened blossoms can stand temperatures this low, but not for more than a couple of hours. Temperatures in this range all night is more than they can take. A fruitgrower sardnonically told me today, "Well, at least the trees won't be trying to bear fruit on a 50% irrigation water allotment this summer . . ." Of course, he will go for year with no income and still plenty of expenses on his farm.

Record 13.1 inches of snow falls in Boulder during daylong storm

The snowstorm that blew into Boulder late Monday night stuck around town today dropped a record 13.1 inches of snow at the city's official monitoring station, according to local meteorologist Matt Kelsch.

Today's snowfall beats the previous record for April 9, when 11.8 inches fell on this date in 1989.

The storm did not evenly distribute its wintry gifts across Boulder County, Kelsch said. While most of the city of Boulder likely saw between 8 and 13 inches, areas to the north and east, like Longmont, likely saw considerably less accumulation. Kelsch said the fluffiness of the snow contributed to the high accumulation total in Boulder. . .

It's always funny to see this almost every year. People think spring and summer are on the way and then winter smacks back, just about every April, no fail.

Say wha? There is only two inches on the ground here and the weather station is only about 5 miles from us... Guess when they say localized they really mean it!
