Red face Buying in Pueblo?

Hello,

Is it possible to buy a 2bd (at least) house in Pueblo for around 60-70k that is not in a shoot em up neighborhood? I am aware that this town has had it's problems but I heard it is getting better. I am considering moving from Oregon. I already have income, so I don't have to face the job market, at least not yet. The trouble is that prices in my state are too high to buy. Anyway the idea of less snow than Denver and Colorado Springs appeals to me, as well as a little more summer T-storms. Please advise. Im not picky on the house, I just want to get a place that has some peace and quiet.

60-70K? Are you talking about a double-wide? You want to buy a two-bedroom house for 60-70K? There's this place called "Dogpatch" that comes to mind.

This is 2007. As a homeowner, I'd HOPE there isn't a place that cheap! I'd think 100-125K would be a good starting range. Double that for Denver.

WOW what a rude response to a post McGowdog. You could have just said no and not made Drummer feel like sh.

I went to realtor.com and looked. There are several in your price range but I'm not familiar with the area. They could be in a bad neighborhood. Maybe not. I suggest you call a realtor there.

Agreed on the rudeness, Wow indeed.

Right, I am aware of all of these listings. But i'm sure most of them are "the dog patch", LOL. I was trying to squeze in there somewhere without getting mugged, ha.

I may actually have to go for a double wide on land I own if that's what it takes, im not above it.

Smile 60/70k

Hello ,yes there are homes on the south side around St Mary Corwin hospital for that price,my grandmother and aunt&uncle live over there,I would suggest staying on the west side of I-25,If you looked hard enough you could probably find a smaller home in pueblo west for around 100K,Just my opinion ,look hard, drive around

I don't think I was being rude at all. 60K-70K is how much a family spends on their automobiles these days. Not us, however. We're against the norm. Our starter home was at a base price 89.5K. We upgraded by having the whole basement finished and had to drop another 9K for the lot. At the time, our realtor suggested building a new home as this was just the cheapest way to get into a home at the time (1999-2000).

The builder of our home has won many awards for building the best home for under 100K, the best home for under 120K, etc. If you want to PM me, I'll give you info on that. We have a home that has over an acre of land, 5 bedrooms, an attached 2-car garage (somewhat undersized however), vaulted ceiling, plant shelves, owner selected light fixtures, counters and cabinets and flooring, etc.

I'm just thinking that there are some modulars in the Minnequa area that probably start in the 80-100k range and thought that 60-70K was a bit low, even for Pueblo.

Yeah i'ts easy to sound rude on the net anyways. I don't need a 5 bd 2 bath. I see tons of listings in 20 to 40 for 2bd no doubt the dog patch, ha ha . So I upped it to 60-70 to spare some embarrassment, LOL.

Thanks for the info.

I hear ya. It's not your typical 5 bedroom, 2 and 3/4 bath. One of those bedrooms has a huge walk-in closet and the room serves as my secret lab.

The home has a total of 1240 sq ft up and 1100 sq ft down and is dwarfed by other homes on the block. My neighbors can't sell their homes because, in part, they are too big!

There's a home for sale next to Burrito's Betty on like Elizabeth and 24th that looks like it's got serious potential.

I think Pueblo is a great place to live. The weather is good. Access to the airport in Colorado Springs is easier than from most areas in Springs. Shopping is easy and abundant. The city has some problems on the east side, but overall it is comprised of hard-working and good-natured people. They have been friendly and kind to me - a small town feeling even though I think the population is 125,000. The Pueblo Chieftain lists homes that have sold each week. This week the range was $407,000 to $39,000. VA track homes that were built in the 50s and 60s are well maintained and going for under $100,000 in Belmont and in Southside neighborhoods.
