You have a lot of options if money is little object. As winter desired, and presumably snow, focus on the high country. All the major ski resorts should answer, at a price.

I would look on VRBO and see what you find. Summit County, Steamboat Springs, Crested Butte, Granby/Winter Park might be places to start looking.

My vote is for Crested Butte. It's more isolated. More of an "I'm in the middle of the Rockies with no one around for miles" feel to it. Might not have as many amenities though plus it's like a 5 hour drive from Denver if you plan on flying in and renting a car.

I second San Juan County, in perticular Lake City/Ouray/Silverton. Lake city has cabins for rent at a place called T-Bear's camp ground. Good fishing, hunting, hiking, whatever.
