I was wondering what type of weekend trips and recreational activies can be done if you're willing to drive about 2 or so hours from the Denver area. I'm trying to create a radius around Denver so I can get an idea of what I could do if I wanted to go away for a few days. I know there's so many things in the general area, but elsewhere? I'm a breath away from relocating( from CT), and want to explore that topic. It's practically the only thing I didn't explore in making my decision.

I've had much help over the last month or so from many of you, and I appreciate it all.

Virtually any summertime mountain activity you can think of ... hike, camp, fish, jeeping, canoeing, boating, sailing, bicycling, shopping in mountain tourist towns, horseback riding, food and accomodations ranging from rustic through multi-star resorts, dude ranches, and a whole bunch more stuff ... caving, rafting, skydiving, gliders, mountain climbing, mining and panning for precious metals, wildlife watching ......

In the winter, it's ski season, snowmobiling, hiking, camping, ice fishing, and many of the other activities still are in full swing ...

OH, and there's good hunting, too ......

2 hrs to the east is Sterling! J/K! Unless you are going to Sterling to visit a friend, there's not much there. There's not much in the whole eastern half of the radius, unfortunately.

Beg to differ, but there are a number of plains area lakes for your waterskiing, fishing, sailing, and just plain picnicking pleasure.

There's also golf, tennis, team sports leagues, 4-H or similar equine and livestock groups/events ....

and Pawnee Grasslands to the northeast of Denver (east of Ft. Collins) is another quite different, interesting landscape; great for birding.
