I am thinking about taking a position at the Henderson mine. I was wondering were people live who work at the mine, what the commute is like and what the rental situation is in the area. And anymore information about the area someone might have. Thanks in advance.

Steve, where is the mine? Give us the name of a nearby town.

I was just there actually, there is a nice hiking trail right at Henderson mine (Jones Pass)

I wouldn't think the commute is bad, you turn off to the mine before you start gaining any real elevation off Berthoud Pass

It's some distance out of town in a national forest area, although Empire is the closest gateway town to it.

According to Google the commute from Denver would be about an hour in traffic. You could probably find someplace in Jefferson County, and cut that in half.

I don't know who owns the Henderson mine now. When DH worked for AMAX, they owned it. DH had to go there occasionally. He said a lot of the workers lived in the Denver area.

That's how it was when I worked there (Oct. '74 to March '75) There were some people who lived in Granby and Kremmling as they came in from the county road out of Parshall. But those people worked for the prime contractors and had been there for a couple years already.

I wasn't sure if people commuted all the way from Denver, Granby looks like a nice town. I need to go and explore the area and see what the rental market is like.

Georgetown or Idaho Springs would be the closest places. Granby is over Berthoud Pass, which would be a heck of a drive in the winter.
