Oh. No wonder you don't like to get high. You choose the lousiest highs there are. There are only two great highs. Go to the top of a mountain, or smoke pot. Oh that's right, three, go to the top of a mountain AND smoke pot. Everything else is a crappy high. Cough syrup, bennadryl, uppers, downers, pain killers... I hate all of them because they leave your head so thick and foggy and you feel so uncomfortable and weird. Pain killers actually feel like someone punched me in the gut if they're stronger than aspirin. Two cups of coffee gives me the shakes. I drink green tea.

And all of those drugs have more side effects and worse side effects than pot. You can commit suicide with aspirin. People do every single year. But you'd have to eat three pounds of pot to o.d. and you'd fall asleep and wake up refreshed first, and that's why no one ever has or ever will commit suicide with the safest recreational drug in the world. But you keep letting it be your favorite little scape goat. Cause you're my favorite squeaky toy.

I don't like to get high because I don't NEED to get high, or drunk, or otherwise alter who I already am.

I really don't care if anyone else needs to be wasted as long as they do it in a manner that does not negatively impact me. In fact, some people are so dull and lifeless when sober that they should get high, for the sake of everyone around them.

But don't think you are going to come to Colorado and find a million people who want to get high in public with you, because there aren't, and there won't be unless the laws change to allow that. Also know that we have fire restrictions almost every year that prohibit ALL smoking outside in forested areas, due to the fire danger, and that these fire restrictions are taken very seriously. It is also illegal to smoke anything in any indoor public space that does not have special ventilation, and that this includes bars, restaurants and casinos. Some cities have further restricted outdoor smoking.

So, you can't smoke indoors in a public place, and you can't smoke outdoors in most places, either, even if you are smoking tobacco. You can't smoke pot in *ANY* public place whatsoever, period, including mountaintops.

Even though you claim that You can't smoke pot in *ANY* public place whatsoever, period, including mountaintops, I guarantee you that some people are doing it anyway, even during fire bans. Some idiots will put smoking pot above the safety of others. No need to smoke it anyway, anywhere! Smoking is the least elegant way of getting mj into the body. Edibles are the way to go. Easier to use, & safer for the environment, without damaging the lungs. Also makes mj undetectable when consumed this way in a public setting. Chances are good that someone sitting at a table near you was doing just that, and you thought they were taking TUMS or after dinner breath mints.

As long as they don't drive while impaired, then that's awesome.

Obviously not too many people on here from Boulder. There has been late night open use of MJ in certain bars, restaurants for years. There used to be a place on 9th and Canyon called The Oasis early 90's, voted America's top Brew Pub at that time( now 1,500 psf. multi million dollar lofts; maybe some of you remember, great beer, food. Anyway it was pretty common to see people smoking a fattie in the up stairs lounge. That place was totally mainstream, so it might just put things in perspective when talking about Boulder's less commercial nightlife. MJ has been defacto legal for years in Boulder; no you can't technically smoke cigarettes in Boulder, weed is another story. Basically the only way to get arrested while smoking MJ there is to commit an armed felony. Go to ANY late night bar in Boulder and tell me you don't see some MJ use. Said it before and will say it again..420 is a religion in Boulder.

There will always be some idiots who drive while impaired, wether the impairment is caused by mj, alcohol, talking on the cell-phone, a fight with the spouse, or listening to Rush Limbaugh. Makes no sense to single out mj as a culprit more insidious than any other impairment. Additionally, you have more than a few drivers who are essentially incompetent behind the wheel whenever they are on the road.

Okay, that reminds me of a joke. What's the difference between a drunk and a stoner ?
Answer: The drunk will drive through a stop sign while the stoner will wait for it to turn green.
