Hello,

I'm moving to Colorado with roughly $15,000. I was going to wait to get a job lined up but every call I've gotten has been about a position opening up in a week. This is a problem because I live in Louisiana. I've been debating on Colorado Springs or the Boulder/Longmont area. It seems to me that jobs are more readily available around Boulder but housing is cheaper around Colorado Springs. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Note: I've been to Colorado several times and like CS better than the Denver area.

Thanks

You are correct on those basic points. CS has an unemployment rate that is about 40-50% higher than B-LM. Housing might be on average 10-20% cheaper in CS for comparable places. On overall cost of living CS might be 10% cheaper.

If are confident of your work prospects, maybe go with CS.

If not sure, get a extended stay motel or month to month rental and try one and feel free to change later if desired or necessary.

I don't have personal experience with motels in that market but know to be careful there. Absolute cheapest is probably not the smart choice.

This option looks alright on the surface. Extended Stay Colorado Springs, CO - Airport, Value Place - extended stay hotels and apartments.

Maybe a local will offer more advice.
