I think everything was stable or growing for some time, but the global financial crisis in 2008 and several so so years after that have cleaned a lot of clocks when it comes to businesses that depend on the casual dollar such as shops and restaurants. So there has been some turnover, but the streets and the general makeup of the town is still the same.

Default yousah -- restaurant in Aspen

Hello -- was just today looking on web to find (what sounds like) similar/same restaurant. I have been there a number of times in 1970s and 1980s. It is/was SEPARATE from, but in BASEMENT of, a hotel
that I believe was facing East on a north/south street. Was excellent spot. I recall one time w/several friends there; we had a few drinks/dinner/wine, and a magician named Bob Dubac (a kid maybe ~24 or
25 yrs old, at the time) showed up to entertain diners. He sat down w/us and spent an HOUR doing card tricks; pulling coins/balls/ropes outta people's ears/pockets/nose !!!! Was phuching INCREDIBLE !! (everyone there was/is college grad/comp scientist and very intelligent; however, no one cud figure out ANY of his tricks !!! coupla guys thought Bob was from outer space !!!). Anyway, I got his card and he happened to be 'playing' at Marriott down @ Hilton Head later that Spring (April). My wife & I had been going to Charleston just about every year @ that time and were ALSO heading down to Heritage Golf @
Harbour Town Golf Links and ended up seeing him @ Marriott saloon. He spent > an hour w/my wife and me and ended up doing Scarne's 'card on the ceiling' trick, which maybe 40 'old fogies' saw and peed their pants --- never saw such a close-up performer before or since. Just happened 2 c his name somewhere YESTERDAY (true story) and sent him an e-mail. He responded and remembered BOTH incidents !!! That's y I am searching web for name of damn restaurant (which has now changed hands coupla times)
to remind him --- he can't remember it EITHER !!! Ha Ha Ha (we're ALL 'old fogies', now !!). I WILL get name and get back to you; however, as I dimly recall, whole place may haved burned down !!! DG in Connecticut.

Did you know the rent for the average size restaurant in Aspen is $11-13K / mo?
Now you know why you can't get a $6.00 cheeseburger. Ouch.
