Hello everybody,
I currently live in Nebraska and I will be finishing my welding degree/certification this August (I hope). I really want to relocate to Colorado after I graduate, so I am wondering if anyone can tell me if and where there may be any welding jobs in Colorado. I love mountain biking and hiking, so this would definitely want to be a permanent move. Thanks for your input!

Check Craigslist and also try to find where the oil patch drilling firms announce their vacancies.

Other states have more drilling than COLO but's it growing in a number of places, especially in ND, TX, PA, OH and other states.

You'll probably have to move to Denver before you find a job and work on a project-by-project basis with some commercial contractors. Find out who does work for large projects like King Soopers or Walmart. The dream-job for a welder I would imagine would be working on a large football stadium or something where there's a lot of steel and welding going on. On a smaller scale I'm sure pipe welding is big here also with all the water heaters, gas, and stuff like that.

Stick with WY and SD to earn your 'stripes' (with NO INCOME TAX)

Colorado welding jobs will be pretty 'Light' in comparision, and you will serve your career BEST buy STRETCHING yourself and your talents... (while You are YOUNG). You can get a good gig in SD, and 'escape' to Colorado in your 10 - 14 days off every few months. working a 9-5 fab job for low wages in Colorado will give you LITTLE time to enjoy Colorado. BTDT
