I've done link wars in the past and it's pointless because those people have already rationalized their use and there is nothing I will say that will stop them from using it. I've could drag hundreds of studies and doctors in here and they'll still believe it is completely safe and harmless and has no impact on the body whatsoever. It's the same with alcoholics, meth heads, gambling junkies, you name it. Only they have the power to change.
It's pretty ignorant of you to insult people who smoke marijuana (like you did above) wanneroo, maybe you should try some (it'd be better than any of the so-called "research" you say you've done).....it might calm you down and help you to write a post that may not be for the use of the fabulous weed, but still be in a respectful manner towards others who do...I've NEVER been on govt dole, my brain is intact, and I'm very active and involved in my community and large family...and it's almost a given that some of the people you know (maybe even a good friend) indulges occasionally...you just wouldn't know it....and I can totally understand why.

it is not true, it is not kind, and it is not respectful to make the statement (insinuating) that anyone who uses medical marijuana is sitting around on the government dole with nothing better to do but get stoned.

You have said your piece on more than a few posts in this thread, and people have disagreed with your evidence (as it were) of the horrific side effects of marijuana. Nobody is suggesting that you should agree with them on this matter but in all fairness...be respectful of others opinions as well. As an aside, I hope and pray (sincerely) that you never get put in the position of having to choose between medical marijuana or a different host of mind and body altering prescription drugs.

Best regards, sincerely

Once again, thousands of studies have been conducted worldwide and even here in the USA regarding the medical use of cannabis. Here are links to two sites, NORML and Americans for Safe Access, that sum up many of those uses. There are many more examples available in research, books and on the internet.

Didn't the Kennedy family build a fortune in bootleg booze during our last experience with prohibition of a substance?

To use Kennedy and misguided in the same sentence is a redundancy, n'est pas?

My father in law has now had 3 battles with cancer, he is as conservative and anti-drug as they come, due to the chemo he had lost 40 pounds in about 3 months in his 1st battle with the doctors giving him a survival chance of less then 50% in the following 6 months, my brother in law convinced him to try a pot brownie, my father in law stopped losing weight. Not only did he stop losing weight he survived, and has went through the other 2 battles, he only touches it when on chemo, but he credits it with saving his life.

My wife works in home health care, she runs across plenty of elderly people that smoke daily and swear by the effects they have experienced from smoking.

Needless to say it is not for everybody, but if you know someone that is in pain or struggling through chemo, then it does not hurt to try some edibles to help with the pain. It is no worse then many of the prescription meds out there.
Mine isn't as severe as hers sounds but yes, MMJ does help with the nerve pain and other issues related to it. I have said in other threads about it that the prescribed pharmaceuticals made me VERY high all day (had to take them 3X per day) just in case I had MS related symptoms (I was told prior to taking them to decide do I want my body or brain? On the pills I certainly didn't have my brain). MMJ allows me to take something as needed which isn't all that often.

I always find it hilarious when short sighted, uninformed people like waneroo criticize pot smokers as people with altered brains sitting around on the government dole when our past three presidents were all pot smokers as were and are many very successful people from all walks of life.

waneroo criticizes people for altering their minds with pot while his mind is obviously in dire need of some alteration regarding the facts.

Here, waneroo, go over this list and see if anyone on it is as successful as you are, or if they're sitting around, brain addled, on the government dole.

Let's all stay focused on the topic of does it help; best posts are first-person experiences where use of MMJ has helped, or not helped, the person posting. Second best are experiences of family members and friends.

Does MMJ really help?

It helped my mother in the 70's when she was nauseated from chemo & dying. My brother got it at college for her. She was so embarrassed to smoke it since it was such a taboo, but it helped with the nausea. But not enough to save her of course.

I have a friend who had to go off of her migraine meds because they were causing a drug reaction with another drug she had to take. MMJ takes away her migraines.

I just read a study that said that MMJ does not heal the pain; but however makes the pain less noticeable:
BBC News - Cannabis can make patients 'less bothered by pain'
Now, doesn't that make sense??!

I know people who cannot tolerate MJ at all, causing them to become too anxious.

I know women who use MJ as a female viagra after menopause to achieve climax after not being able to do so due to menopause.

It sure is great for relaxing muscles for strenuous exercise. That certainly can't be so bad.

It is certainly not to be used while driving, at least by most people.

Someone at the beginning before the conversation in this thread got derailed remarked that MJ is so individualistic, dependent on the person. Reaction also is so situational.

I can't believe all the fuss over MJ, such a silly drug.

Where does one get a vaporizer? How does that differ from a water pipe?
