Default Boulder/Ft. Collins TIPS for short visit

Hello all,

I am considering relocating to CO and will be visiting Boulder and Ft. Collins in early November.

Do you have any tips regarding neighborhoods/area to check out that would give me a "feel" for these cities?

I'm married, no children, one dog, and outdoors fanatic. Looking to move into a single family within the $300-400K range.

Thx!

If you don't want to get started with a realtor, pick up the local papers, look at the ads for open houses, and visit a few.

What type of housing are you interested in? Old? New? Downtown? Suburban? We need to know the answers before we can give you any tips.

Thanks pittnurse70 --
I am looking to learn about the best neighborhoods in Ft Collins/Boulder. I know that "best" is difficult to describe: safe, old or new single family, with backyard, preferably suburban.

"Suburban" Boulder is acutally a misnomer, b/c Boulder doesn't actually have many real suburbs. One suburban area near Boulder is Heatherwood, to the northeast. Most of the homes there are ~ 20 - 25 yrs old, with a few new ones in the mix. There is an area east of Boulder with homes of a similar age called "Fairview". Farther northeast is Niwot, with homes of all ages and a tiny downtown. These three places are perhaps the most suburban-like areas around Boulder.

Louisville is a suburban city about 5 miles from Boulder. It is a former coal mining town that tries to preserve its heritage. It has a small downtown with restaurants, the library, city hall, a bandshell and a park. Lafayette is east of Louisville. Also an old mining town turned suburb. Not as vibrant a downtown area as Louisivlle.

I don't know much about Ft. Collins.

Funny, I would have said all of Boulder was a suburb in feel. None of it really feels urban or rural...

Fort Collins has many good areas, and few not so good places. In your price range you will find nice communities. You can go to cohomes.com and look up housing in the area. I would take a drive around the city and see what areas are appealing to you. Without knowing more information I can not pinpoint an area for you. There are just so many nice areas in your price range. If you have any questions on a more specific area I would be glad to help out. Sorry I don't know much about Boulder.
