I'm driving to colorado springs on december 20th, will be staying untill jan 3rd, what should i be aware of, concerning the weather, both there and going there.I would appreciate any help.

Most anything is possible. Here it could be in the low 60's or a blizzard. I've taken the route to Baton Rouge through NM & TX in winter and have encountered BAD ice storms in TX. Bring a set of tire chains if you don't have 4WD or AWD. Check this website before departure:

At that time of the year, be prepared for snow and ice, slippery conditions, and poor visibility. You might also get lucky and have completely bare and dry roads with great traction and unlimited visibility. Anything can happen. May your journey be a safe enjoyable adventure.
