The mountainous region of Switzerland is a relatively small area. I think Austria and parts of Northern Italy and an area in France, which are also in the Alps, should be compared to Colorado. Personally, I think Zell Am Zee and Werfen, Austria and Chamonix, France also compete quite well in the scenery/geography category. Why restrict your comparison only to the political boundaries of Switzerland when you can include all of the Alps?

I'm a CO native, extremely proud of my homestate...but...I honestly don't think there's a comparison. Switzerland and the rest of the Alps in other countries have my vote.

I live in Germany but drive through Switzerland frequently on the way to Italy, French Riviera, etc. Absolutely gorgeous trip everytime no matter the weather. Not to mention all of the different cultures in different parts of the country (German, France and Italian influence in different cantons, etc). I will post pics from some of my roadtrips if I remember when I get home.

If money/job wasn't a concern: Switzerland

If I had to pick 1 of the two and was forced to move there soon: Colorado

If you do choose Switzerland, I'd pick a less expensive city.. Zurich and any of the touristy areas (i.e. Zermatt) are no-go's.
