^ I second Double H re Natural Bridges National Monument. It's extremely nice and should not be missed even if all you do is take the driving tour around the monument with a stop or two for a short hike to one of the many scenic overlooks. When I worked for Ft Lewis College in Durango, I always took a few days vacation to hike in Canyonlands during spring break in March. While March can certainly hold some unpleasant surprises weatherwise, for the most part it is usually mild and sunny in Canyonlands. You will encounter a lot of kids on spring break, but since you won't be competing with them for a camping spot, they shouldn't bother you too much.

If you are driving out on I-70, I suggest that instead of taking the usual route to Moab where you turn south on highway 163/191 at Crescent Junction, take the exit (no 214, I think) for highway 175 and follow 175 west to highway 128 and then drive south along the Colorado River to Moab. The scenary along this route is incredible once you hit the Colorado. The road has its twists and turns but it is well maintained and makes for an incredible drive.

If by some chance you are driving out via Highway 160 instead, don't pass up Mesa Verde. It is truely amazing and everyone should visit it at least once.
