Default accepting of old cars and tatoos?

Hi, my husband and I have some tatoos on our arms and my husband enjoys working on his old 52 Chevy. We are not hoodlums, or troublmakers. We enjoy life and our children and we go to church. Never have been to Colorado but we are planning to move there. Here, in S. California, tatoos, and old cars are not anything strange, in fact, if you have tattoos, you don't get looked twice because it is so common. Suburb moms even have them. My question is , is Colorado the same? Which parts? Which parts absolutely do not tolerate it? Any help would greatly be appreciated.. - We are quiet people. Any neighborhoods that you see that people work in their garage whether having fun with their kids, or doing crafts, working on woodwork or cars-I mean, are people out and about? There are some neighborhoods, here, where if you have your garage opened, your dinged! Can anybody guide us? THANKS!

Hi again,
Mabey I will get in trouble/off topic for answering your questions ..but I answered your last one on mixed couples and felt compelled to answer...partially because when people have alot of tatoos I am a little standoffish myself so you forced me to think. Here is why and it makes sense now considering I have an uncle/aunt with a couple big ones and its okay...I know them and all so. But up at our school a mom had crazy punk died hair and tatoos/peircings all over and it made me uncomfortable but it is mainly because I thought she must think we are so conservative and boring and she would never look at me and I try to say hi to everyone...she was standoffish...mabey she considered herself prejudged? but she seemed very confident so I don't know. I am friendly w/some past neighbors I run into in my neighborhood despite their tatoos....wife real nice....husband doesn't talk. So when I think about it ...it is all good...it comes down to approachabilty more than anything and do you have pride in your home etc....who cares if you like to work on cars...it's all good. It is about your heart...there will always be people who shy away...just be kind and it is fine right? You have helped me be aware that I need to be more open minded...I guess we all feel judged at times...hey I have women that wouldn't talk to me because I showed up thin at school after I had my babies! We are uncomfortable at times about things we don't feel we would do ourselves or be...I am funny about people who have plastic surgery....I am working on that. Best to you.

Thank you for taking the time to answer. I appreciate your encouraging words and also your honesty! - I DO understand that people might be stand-offish. Sometimes I feel the same way about people with tattoos, and I have them too! - We are not standoffish though, my husband is really sweet with a sweet voice and very respectful. That's one of the many reasons why I fell in love with him. Sometimes when I see evil material on ones body, I say, 'hm....but then again, the very fact that we have tattoos, people might say, "hm.....why would you want to do that do yourself?" You said it is about your heart, well you are right. Even though we fail, we still set our hearts on God and try our best to be loving people. I appreciated your reply and enjoyed reading it. Best to you also! I was just wondering if there are areas more that you will see people with tattoos as opposed to not at all. But perhaps that is everywhere? I guess if someone looks at us strange, the best thing to do is smile. -

Default Car culture is alive and well here

Maybe not as much as in So CAL, but there are lots of folks here with old cars and classics and street rods....you'll be fine.

Weather is GREAT here too along the front range, storm come in and pass on quickly. People jog in January in shorts.

s/Mike

Hi Mike- I appreciate you taking the time to tell us about this, this is encouraging news. Is this anywhere specific or just all around in Colorado? We are thinking Fort Collins area and possibly Colorado Springs.....take care - Oh yes, what is the front range, I've heard that before but don't really understand it?

konijn - The Front Range refers to the communities that butt up against the mountains at the very beginning of the Great Plains. Technically it's not correct but that's the common usage of all the towns and cities from Ft. Collins down to Trinidad.

Tattoos, old cars, mixed couple, you will be fine. I live in C. Springs and with the military here, it's pretty common. My neighbors across the street are Caucasion (sp) and Cambodian. A friend of mine is Caucasion and her husband is African-American. My brother is Caucasion while my sis-in-law is part hispanic. It's all good.

Oh, lots of car buffs around the state.

We live in south Parker which is 28 miles south of Denver. On the north end of Parker, the Cottonwood area, we have seen men/women with tatoos and old cars sitting in some garages.......but on the other end of Parker (where we are), we don't see any of that. The Pinery and Stroh Ranch housing developements don't have it there either (that we have seen). And, the number of times we have been in Highlands Ranch, nope, haven't seen it there either. Now, communities are considered "upper scale" to some folks and that may be the reason why. Quess some communities/housing developments just don't like people with tatoos and old cars living in them. We know that our HOA doesn't allow to much working on a car in a garage...unless the garage door is down.
Since we are "old fashion", we just aren't into all the tatoos, body piercings, etc.
As far as the weather goes, not GREAT like Mike Back East keeps telling everyone, but you will find that out if you move here. This is not (repeat...NOT) Southern California.

Thank you for your input. I appreciate you taking the time to share more information on this matter. - It was helpful. You are not old fashioned because you are not into tattoos and piercings, although we have a little tattoos here and there, I'm not into piercings either. - Everyone has different tastes and that's ok too. We realize that Colorado isn't S. California, we have been following the weather. - Thanks again!
