I am a very proud liberal democrate. I don't know about this Boulder being surrounded by reality stuff. I live in Boulder and many of my neighbors seem to be republican. You can tell by the fading W stickers on their windshields, the overuse of American Flags and other bits of information that would lead you to at least guess as to which party they are affiliated with. Not 100% accurate, but it's fun to guess nevertheless.

One interesting thing I have noted is that those identifiable households never seem to recycle. Wonder why?

I was referring to Madison, where I currently live.

Since this is a Colorado thread I stand by my statement about Boulder, in Colorado.

I'm not sure how one quantifies "overuse" of American flags. My father was a WWII vet; I have his casket flag. I like to fly it; it reminds me of him. We call it "Karl" in memory of him.

I live in a fairly conservative neighborhood in Louisville. One can tell by the political yard signs. Yet most of MY neighbors recycle. Maybe we "walk the walk" more in Louisville.

It sounds like it. I wish people in my neighborhood would walk the walk. Perhaps with single bin recycling it will help. I hope so for the sake of this lovely planet. My father was also a WWII vet, and I understand your questioning of my statement about American flags. I do have a problem with flags that obviously isn't shared by everyone. I can live with it. I hope everyone else can too.

I would love single-bin recycling. We have to do less sorting than in years past, but we don't have that yet. Sounds great!

Now back to politics. Hmm. I can't think of anything more to say. I'm getting kind of weary of this primary season, and it's barely started! It didn't help that I was in Omaha shortly before the Iowa caucuses, and the political ads were flying, beamed out east to Council Bluffs.

I've been invited to caucus on 05 Feb. Have any of you done that before, if so, can you describe it. Thank you.

We use Waste Management in Broomfield (Willow Park area) and they do single bin recycling. So we have one huge rubber trash bin for garbage and we'll be getting a same sized trash bin (provided by the Waste Management company for a fairly hefty fee) for recycling. Because the recycle bin is so huge, recycling gets picked up every other week. We just moved here and just ordered service so it hasn't started yet. But I'm happy with the single bin thing - it will make it so much easier to recycle. They should do that everywhere. It would encourage more people to recycle if it was that easy.

On the political side, I'm a newly registered Colorado Democrat (I've always been a Democrat but I registered for it in Colorado when I moved here). Can't wait to get W out this year!

I'm not sure I understand the message just above. I can't remember what I posted there and can't imagine why you deleted it nine days later.

But anyway, to answer your question: For Douglas County, you can visit our Caucus page to see a Caucus agenda and related information about what goes on at a Caucus. It's pretty much the same in any county in Colorado.

For some background on why we have a Caucus and the tradeoffs relative to a Primary Election, here's an article (http://pdt.typepad.com/democracy_in_progress/2008/01/why-the-caucus.html - broken link) that might help.

question about caucus: can you bring kids? we have a 3.5 year old and we can't find a babysitter for that night. my sis is going to caucus too, and we'd both like to go and vote for edwards so we'd like to bring the tiny beast along (she's an obama supporter, but hey, fine with us). can she come?
