OK. In Europe, the initial election has 7 or 8 candidates. After that, the top 2 go to the final election. That would eliminate the 2-party system we currently have, because independents might actually have a chance of winning.

Strange as it sounds, I honestly think the two parties we currently have hold each other in check. To let EITHER side run the coutry would result in ruin.

What distresses me the most is the amount of hate and distrust that has arisen for fellow Americans within our own country lately. It makes me wonder what the heck happened to the good old USA, it really does.

Europe has political parties, as well. Their system is not all that much different from ours; the preliminary election is similar to our primaries. I agree we can all learn from each other.

So much of the good old USA doesn't exist anymore.

Halloween at school? Nope. Maybe a Fall Festival. Can't have kids becoming beggers
and devil worshippers.

Pledge of Alliegence? Barely hanging on, totally optional of course, no need to say GOD
of even believe in one. We had removed it from the coins also, but thats too hard.

Biggist Fears? Bear Attacks, Mountain Loin Attacks, Sex Offenders, Internet Predators, Walking across the street, Road Rage, Lightning strikes, Global Warming

Daily News Priorities? What is Paris Hilton doing?, What is Brittany Spears Doing?, Oh yeah, how many dead in Iraq today (no report of progress), Political Mud Slinging, Something awful about Bush or at least a misquote inferring something awful, Daily quotes from Reid, Polosi and Clintons.

Christmas? Can't really admit its a Christian holiday -- must be more inclusive of all, can't even admit US was founded as a predominately Christian foundation; most not offend the muslims; mostly about getting present and santa now and having a great light display on your house. Kids forget that Christ is actually found inside the word Christmas. "Happy Holidays" is much better, please don't say Christmas anymore -- it's offensive. PLEASE!!!

Just examples of how pathetic its all become.

And I really believe that if we were attacked like we were in Pearl Harbor -- this time, we would loose. Nobody has any backbone left except the old timers and some folks currently called radicals, gun-owners and old-timers and the brave men and women in our military (which is way too small -- thanks Clinton).

Gotta agree with ya on all the above. Great post!
It's called "political correctness" and it's destroying our Country little by little.

I am kindly requesting for the people who keep posting comments about how the country is going to Hell and the Clintons destroyed America etc etc to please just start your own thread. The thread is titled "Roll-call for Colorado Democrats". Your conservative rantings lamenting about "the good ole days" in the USA have no place in our conversation. Start your own discussion, do not hijack ours.

Default Fellow Democrat, present and accounted for.

I am a registered Democrat in Larimer County. I was and continue to be a supporter of Angie Paccione for Congress! I had the priveledge of meeting her before the last election, and was so impressed with her intelligence and integrity. I hope the next election will bring a victory for her.

Currently, John Edwards is my favorite candidate for president. I think he will best represent the "true majority" of Americans.

The reason I usually vote all Democrat: Because the Republican party has been taken over by religious extremists, war-mongers, and greedy millionaire CEOs. Republicans now represent everything I am against, and frankly I am surprised so many people in Colorado think they can identify with what the Rep. party stands for these days.

Please, check out the film "American Blackout". You will be alarmed, enraged, and inspired to take back our political system! Tell everyone you know to see the film as well. I am going to try to do a community screening in Estes Park (if they let me ).

Colorado Democrats: Do not feel alone, do not give up; evil persists only when good people fail to act.

Thanks for starting this thread -- we need a united community to incite change.

That is exactly why I can't support the Republican party, except you forgot racism and homophobia.

Edwards is the only candidate I have donated to. Ilove Elizabeth, too. Wonder if she could be his Veep????

I'm not one for pigeonholing into either Democrat/liberal or Republican/conservative -- it almost assumes that one has no independent thought and follows all the ideas/agendas of that particular party/viewpoint blindly. On most issues I'm liberal, on some I'm conservative. If I had to pick blindly (without evaluating specific issues/candidates), I'd go Democratic. I identify with more (but not all) of the Democratic/liberal ideas, and not with (almost) any of the Republican party's actions or agendas.

Thankfully, I live in what maybe one of those rare Colorado areas, a Democratic/liberal county. Summit County voted 92% Democratic in the 2004 elections.
