Hello. We are leaving Friday the 20th and will have a whole week. Day 1 and 2 we will be in Denver (all day Saturday only). I should mention it is two adults and our 2 8-year old girls. then travel to Glenwood springs Sunday night. Do the adventure park and the hot springs. On Monday...incant decide to go to vail, beaver, Breckinridge or keystone for 3-4 nights. We want to water raft, horseback ride, etc...Thursday night back to den and leave Friday. Is there anything we could do better or anywhere else we should see???? Thanks so much!!

Groupon has a deal for Glenwood's Adventure park right now. Glenwood Caverns Adventure Park Deal of the Day | Groupon Denver

You can also raft in Glenwood, I would spend an extra night there and save money on the hotel room in one of the resort areas. I think Breck and Vail have more for kids than Beaver Creek or Keystone in the summer. Vail does have Adventure Ridge Official Vail Resorts | Colorado Ski Resorts | http://www.vail.com Breck has the Summer Fun Park Breckenridge Ski Resort & Ski Vacation | Colorado Ski Resorts | Official Breckenridge® | http://www.breckenridge.com

For rafting, you would be much better off heading to the Arkansas River valley than Keystone or Breckenridge. It is a short drive. Plan to stay a night or two in Salida. It's a cool little town with some decent restaurants. It's all about the whitewater.

You've got young kids so you'll be restricted to some of the calmer waters for rafting. Check with some rafting companies about options. I would make advance reservations for hotels, etc. Colorado, especially the touristy destinations, is pretty busy in the summer and hotels tend to fill up fast.

Since Glenwood Springs is closer to Aspen than vail, beaver, Breckinridge or keystone, consider Aspen instead, since you are already in the area.

Something else to consider: I'm thinking that you are most likely going to Glenwood Springs mainly to experience the hot springs. If that is the case, you can do a shorter drive and can get a much better hot springs experience by making Salida your home base as someone previously mentioned. In addition to the Arkansas river being a hop, step, and a jump from a very pleasant downtown, you have a choice of going to 5 different hot springs within 30 or 40 minutes of Salida. I was just recently at the Joyful Journey Hot Springs, and I highly recommend the experience. It is just 31 miles from Salida. From Joyful Journey, The Great Sand Dunes National Park is about a one hour drive further south. It is well worth the drive. The kids will remember walking around in that big sand box for the rest of their lives.
