Nice cool rain this morning.

A gradual increase in showers and thunderstorms is expected the rest of today as monsoonal moisture overspreads the region from the southwest. Locally heavy rain will be possible with the stronger storms, a Flash Flood Watch is also in effect for the southern San Juan Mountains this afternoon/evening.

A most pleasant 68 degrees at noon today ( 1st of August ) in Grand Junction-CO, under cloudy skies with a gentle, but persistent drizzle. Does it get any better then this! Sure beats the 'normal' high of 92 for this time of the year. The swamp cooler is off and I'm sitting at my laptop wearing a long sleeve shirt.

A good, steady rain in the Grand Junction area! But we need more, much more!

It is now 4:15 in the afternoon and the temp is still in the 60s. This is usually the hottest time of the day. Even better, the drizzle that began around 10 AM is still falling. We really needed a rain like this. Most of the rainfall here comes in heavy downpours where much of the water flows as a muddy frenzy into the Colorado River, rather then soaking into the desiccated soil. This rain is a much needed and greatly appreciated soaker. BUT, as HH noted above....we still need more.

According to the local media we should see a lot of rain tomorrow. I have heard that 2 inches is not out of the question and the highs will only be in the 70's. We can use the rain that is for sure.

More rain and cooler temps forecast this week for my corner of Colorado. Highs tomorrow 65. 65??????? I love it! Low 70's for the rest of the week.

Oh, I washed, waxed and detailed my car so I can pretty much say it will rain!
