The official high in Pueblo reported by the NWS at the airport was 103. That breaks the previous record of 101 set in 1953. Unofficially the high has been 108 in downtown.

Needless to say my A/C is on high in my SUV!

What people just can't seem to "get" is that a strong Southwest Monsoon, as welcome as it might be, can not remedy a hydrological drought caused by lack of winter snowpack. The latest Drought Monitor and Drought Forecast from the Climate Prediction Center reflect that reality. No drought relief for most of the Rocky Mountain West through the end of August, if then. In southern Colorado, especially, there is big trouble brewing for agricultural and some municipal water supplies. As I've been saying for months, the die is cast. The best a big Southwest Monsoon can do is remediate some of the agricultural drought in dryland areas and lower the fire danger. Oh, and a lot of Colorado trout fisheries may not survive this summer--streamflows are likely to be too low for trout survival.

It was 96 here in Gunbarrel the last few days, and looks to be again.

I decided to go out of the house finally at 8:00. Beautiful then. Until 9:00 when the horde of mosquitos came out!

Need to get back up in the mountains.

This is from KRDO 13:

Records for today:

Colorado Springs 93 in 1956
Pueblo 100 in 2001 & 1956

Um. Yeah. We're going to crush these today (forecast: 98 in Springs, 106 in Pueblo). Nice knowing you records... don't let the door hit you on the way out...

That is at the airport east of Pueblo. In downtown I think the unofficial high with be over 110 in Pueblo.

At noon officially Pueblo hit 101 breaking the old record. That is really early to break a record.

Hey, it may be hot, but at least we aren't living in a post-apocalyptic yellow haze like last year (at least not yet).
