my 2 cents: nothing around here will come near comparison to what youre used to, including Nebraska and Arizona.
Chatfield IS gross. I went there on 2 occasions-once when it was very busy and it felt like Tijuana and I needed to shower in bleach. The 2nd time, how I went back I'll never know, was a weekday so not many people at all, but all I could think of was what I'd seen on the crowded day and how that 'stuff' still had to be around.
Grand Lake is a nice lake, just not what you'd be used to. You'd be let down.

Grand Lake may be "scenic", but is ill-equipped to launch and keep a boat of any real size on it. For many reasons, the lake is substantially a "private" use lake for the waterfront owners up there.
IMO, if your present boat is sizable, it will be problematic to have a place to keep and enjoy it to it's potential. The biggest powerboat I'd want around here would be about 20-22'; that way, you have a lot of options to move it around between the lakes as a season progresses and enough size for comfort and to handle the rough waters when it's blowing 60 mph for awhile.
If you are considering Dillon, it's best to get your reservation in early as the slip/moorage capacity is rather limited and in high demand.

Very useful information, all. Our boat is a 37'. I'm still thinking of Pueblo, because it seems to be the most feasible option with all the amenities needed for large boats. Even they have to rent a crane to handle our boat, which gets very expensive if it needs to be hauled for repairs, bottom cleaning, etc.
Thanks to everybody for their replies. It's very helpful.

No Forum "fights" or "Wars", but we meant what we said about enjoying Chatfield and there are literally dozens of boat owners that go to Chatfield that we stand beside us!!!!!!!!!! And that is OURS and THEIRS opinion.....FACT!!

Mr. Burton now has received the info he was seeking. Thanks to all who spoke up.
This thread is complete, so I'm closing it before we drown in water quality issues and get way off-topic.
Discussion of water quality in Colorado bodies of water awaits anyone who wants to start a new thread.
