Maybe if you run within hours of getting off the plane.

Are you in good shape? Have you ever been living higher than sea level?

Most people notice the dry air immediately. So a lot of drink water, apply sunscreen, buy and use chapstick, wear a hat & sunglasses.

I moved from Staten Island, NY. As coastal as you can get. Noticed how dry it was immediately. Can't use enough moisturizer. I noticed a difference in my breathing when climbing stairs. Took a few months to not feel a little SOB at the top. Drink tons of water. I am in pretty good shape and still felt it. It's not a big deal, you get used to it fast.

There have been some excellent threads about adjusting to living at high altitude. I suggest that you do a forum search; I found one thread that was four pages long.

I moved from Florida and have been here about 10 weeks now. The first thing that hit me was the dry air. I had the cracked lips and the bloody nose but that cleared up after about a week.
You will get out of breath if you exert yourself. I was moving boxes up and down stairs and it was crazy. Not a problem to worry about though. You'll adjust over time.

But no, not difficult to breath...You aint on Everest..

as kevlegs said, you will adjust quickly. We also moved from Florida right on the beach. This was at the beginning of last December and the dryness it just something you need to get used to. I now carry chapstick with me and the wife always has lotion nearby.

Just don't try and run a marathon 15 minutes after being off the plane and you will be just fine.

To me, what really sucked was how I couldn't drink as much beer without being tipsy. Out here, at first it was 3 beers and I was ready to party!! In Florida, it was more like 6. Very strange.

Just spray some air thickener in your house and car...it helps with the transition!

The younger, healthier, and thinner you are the less it should affect you. My MIL and FIL came from Europe obese and old and they were huffing for 5 days.
