Hello Colorado... I am an elderly disabled vet looking for a nice place to live and not be bothered by hate-mongers and etc... I only have a few years left and I want to find a nice peaceful place to hang around. I use medical marijuana (because i'm not stupid enuff to refuse pain-relief when it is available) and a pot-friendly community with an average IQ of over 100 is preferable. It would be nice to be able to sit in a coffee shop and mention something like moon-exploration without being accused of being an alien.

Since Colorado is not too far away I thought perhaps I'd like to visit and check things out. I'm thinking Pueblo because it's large so there is less chance of not being able to find acceptance somewhere...

Any thoughts, advice, or opinions?

If your costs will allow... consider Boulder,

Nederland if you can do small mtn town.

Woodland Park, Manitou Springs would be worth a look.

Ft Collins if you need more services.

Pueblo would not be in my top 100 Colorado towns, but YMMV

Pueblo - the Alpha City! I'm sure Joss will be along soon to tell you about it.

Manitou Springs and pretend Colorado Springs isn't there.

Actually, anywhere on the Front Range EXCEPT Colorado Springs.

That might be a challenge...

Such bashing on CS. Is it not pot friendly? The average IQ scores are no lower in any resource I've found. It has coffee shops. There is a FOTF to promote hate mongering, but despite their presence the city still has a libertarian vibe.

I would've said anywhere along the front range may be perfectly fine for this gentleman.

Such bashing on FOTF! Are they such an evil in Colorado Springs, and pot smokers such a blessing?

I wouldn't mind them at all if they would avoid hate mongering

I don't mind people smoking pot if they avoid contributing to the drug trade and don't drive when they are high.

As far as I'm concerned they are all free to do as they please, so long as they are not infringing on the rights of others. Those three activities, hate mongering, contributing to the drug trade (which is ran by heavily organized para military gangs in other countries and involves numerous murders), and driving when high (risking the life of other drivers, though not near as much as drunk driving) all involve infringing on the rights of another person to not be harassed or killed.

Well, you just WROTE that "anywhere along the front range may be perfectly fine for this gentleman," so you've made your point of view known just as I did mine.

What? Are the people currently living in the Springs having a campaign to censor any negative comment or fact about it? Has the Gazette started a contest to see who can entice the most newcomers to the Springs, and thus get it's circulation upped? Are there barbarians at the gate to Crystal Park and you are in need of re-enforcements? Perhaps, Pikes Peak Library district has removed all the Ayn Rand books from Penrose Library and East Library out there at Briargate, as well as from all its other branches and John Galt needs new residents to help him regain his throne? Has Manitou sent down an invading army of new agers and the Libertarians of the Springs are calling for still MORE re-enforcements? No?

The OP wrote: I am an elderly disabled vet looking for a nice place to live and not be bothered by hate-mongers

The cold, hard truth is that sooner or later almost anyone who lives in the Springs will run into a "hate-monger." Some people really dislike it when this happens, others just blow it off. OP stated he wanted to avoid such encounters. Therefore, he should find some place other than Colorado Springs to live.

That took quite a while to get to your actual reason. You make it sound like there was something wrong with my having a different point of view. Let's agree to be respectful

I understand that FoTF does exactly that, but I've seen very little of it in the city. I've actually seen less of it here than I did in a mid sized liberal town in Iowa. Of course, there the hate mongering was towards "blacks" and "people from Chicago" - which was another way they referred to black people. In a year in the springs, I haven't ran into anyone that was actually hate mongering, though I also haven't set foot on the FoTF properties. Is it realistic to hate on an entire city for one organization that decided to locate there?
