Hi and thanks for your offer to answer questions. I'm making my way through lots of the Boulder/Denver threads here, but joined the forum to post and get some specific questions out there...

So my husband and I have moved quite a bit in our fourteen years, lots of time in DC suburbs (MD and VA where we both grew up), Rochester, New York and Tampa, Florida. Most recently, after 6 years in NoVA, we picked up with our three young children and moved to southwest London where we've been for the last twelve months. The experience has been amazing, but we're ready to be stateside again and it's looking like CO will be where we land (Hubby's job, work from home + western US travel). We have moved so much and are really wanting to settle so here are my questions about Boulder/Denver:

1. Diversity - two of our three children (8,7,4) are Asian, we and middle daughter are Caucasian. Diversity is really important to us. I've read Boulder is not diverse, but also see it's very liberal, gay-friendly, artistic, so hoping that translates into a diverse feel? Also see there is some good diversity in Mesa and Bear Creek Elementary schools....thinking south Boulder - Table Mesa or Martin Acres - would give us a more diverse population with all the benefits of Boulder trails and urban excitement? After living in London, I'm not interested in suburbia, running to Target, Walmart, etc....I haven't driven a car in a year, and don't miss it! Love walking, bussing, etc...want independent shopping, lovely parks, culture....

2. Any feedback on Denver area would be great too - I thought maybe Denver would give us more of the diversity we're after, but most of the areas with the urban atmosphere I'm craving (Washington Park, Cherry Creek) have demographics of 95% Caucasian, ugh....where else could we consider?

3. Schools are critical, we've adored the British education system, love the creative, artistic approach, children are all very bright and have never been so challenged as they have been here, what are the best schools in Boulder? Am I on the mark with Mesa and Bear Creek?

Other than ski trips to Breckenridge when we were teenagers, we've no experience with CO, just eager for the gorgeous, healthy outdoor lifestyle, hoping its as fantastic as it seems. Any input would be GREAT! A few more details, we'll be arriving in August, we move quickly, lol, and will be renting for at least a year while the home we own in DC is rented out....thanks so much to anyone who takes time to post back!

Default Data are your friends

Colorado QuickFacts from the US Census Bureau

Colorado is
88% white (anglos and hispanics)
3% Asian (vietnamese, dot indians, koreans...)

If you want to live among the Vietnamese, you will find them in the poorest Denver neighborhoods around Federal Blvd.

Denver is not London nor NoVa.

Get used to driving a car. Greater Denver has seen all its population growth since 1943.

You make want to look at Stanley British Primary School
