Fruita, Colorado. A little artsy but conservative at the same time. Lots of recreation...biking, hiking, camping, river rafting... Fruita has a new rec center/library and feels rural with about 12,000 people but at the same time is only a few miles from Grand Junction with all the shopping and services.

The west side of Montrose along the Oak Grove Road area is also nice and similar to Fruita.

I'm not sure why I keep recommending these places. They are both what I consider to be paradise and I keep telling the whole world to come here. I think I'll either keep quiet from now on or recommend areas close to the front range population glob.

Yea thats it! Try Evergreen, Conifer, Woodland Park, Castle Rock, Longmont, Elizabeth, Gleneagle, Franktown, Palmer Lake, Monument, Lafayette, Louisville or maybe Niwot. I would recommend Estes Park but the winters are a little harsh and Black Forest but they just had a big fire there.

I'm not criticizing others so much for recommending some of the above towns and cities. They are all fairly nice places to live. I'm just questioning why I keep inviting the whole world to come and live next to me.

Keep in mind that recently for the first time ever the population in this part of the country from Los Angeles to Denver used more water than nature gave us. It seems that the water supply in areas that depend on the Colorado River basin will have trouble keeping pace with ever increasing demand. Of course adjustments can be made in agricultural use but this has already been done in places like Tucson, Phoenix and L.A. With that in mind I would definitely recommend Pueblo as the best place to live.
