I don't think they are referring to that kind of green but how the mountains look.

The green is reminiscent of Colorado's long time license plates which many people still remember. In Wyoming, people used to refer to cars with Colorado plates as "greenies."

Problem with using the flag is that most people across the country thought that the "C" stood for Chicago, not Colorado.

Putting a Colorado flag inside of mountains would help, but it would probably conflict with the trademarked NHL Colorado Rockies' logo.

Why in the world does a state, let alone a state everyone already knows of as a beautiful "travel destination", need a slogan and logo. How lame.
