I have taken my 1999 Chrysler Sebring to the Northglenn emissions station twice and each time the engine died on the first testing station. After sitting for a few hours, it starts back up and runs fine again. Any ideas as to why this may be happening? I never had this problem with it in the past and the plates are expiring.

Your car maybe vapor locking, especially if it has to sit for a while before it will start back up. During the test they have to rev the engines up to higher RPMs and sitting in those garages it can get a car hot pretty quickly even with the fan on it.

Have a mechanic look into your injectors, pressure regulators, and fuel pump to make sure you do not have something going out and your car is just losing pressure.

For us folks off the Front Range... aka CoSprings to Fort Collins including the Denver Metro, this is off-topic for us. We don't have emissions tests down/out/over here.

Fort Collins does and parts of Weld County do require emissions now.
