Default Winter 2013-2014 Colorado Weather Thread

Okay, the summer thread is closed so the winter thread is now open.

My totally useless and groundless prediction is for heavy snow this winter. If you have a prediction, feel free to add it.

I think the first snow fall for Pueblo proper will be the second or third week this month.

As far as the winter goes. I would like to see 3 blizzards and 3-6 moderate snow storms all in Pueblo proper. More in the suburbs south and west of town.

According to my I Phone Pueblo will have rain and a high of 57 and a low of 30 on Friday. That means the the western suburbs and possibly the city proper could get some snow or rain mixed with snow. I am volunteering for the ghost walk in downtown so I predict snow!

It's early, but I'm already sort of looking forward to the snow. Fortunately I don't have to drive anywhere.

Looking at Grand junctions NBC affiliate KKCO's weather chart earlier today it looks like a 2 part system with the second low system providing a bigger punch. Mountain travel will be pretty tricky, most likely through Saturday! A foot of snow in most parts of central Colorado, maybe more.

According to the weather channel this first winter like storm of the season is named Atlas. There is already a winter storm watch posted for most of Wyoming and the north west part of Colorado including but not limited to Casper, Cheyenne, and Steamboat Springs.

A beautiful fall day today will quickly change tomorrow as a cold front approaches and moves through the area late Thursday into Friday, bringing accumulating snow to the mountains and the northern valleys. The areas that will see the best accumulations are in NW Colorado, where Winter Storm Warnings and Advisories are in effect from Thursday afternoon/evening through Friday. Some northern valleys are also in a Freeze Warning for Friday morning as the cold front brings much colder temperatures to the region.

This is the official forecast from the NWS in Pueblo. As you see its shows rain to snow Friday night with a low of 26. So a hard freeze and a first snow all in the same night.
