My wife and I are considering possibly moving to Colorado some time in the next year or two. We are both 40 something's who are what I would consider general workers. She's a medical secretary for a private practice, and I've spent most of my life up to this point in and out of retail (hoping to stay out). We have no children so schools are of no importance to us, however we do have 2 75lbs dogs and 3 cats so renting is most likely not an option for us. We currently own our home outright so we would have a significant down payment and also some savings to live on until we could both find employment( hopefully 1 of us would move first to find a job then have the other follow.) Basically my question is trying to find some areas to look into and which ones to avoid. Probably looking to keep under 150k for the house if possible and within say 30 min commute to either The Springs or Denver(from what I've read I believe Denver would be more our style). We currently live in an area with approximately 50k people so nothing too congested for living... Working is ok .I know this is pretty general, but any advice on where to start looking will be appreciated.

I don't think you'll find anything for $150k anywhere near Denver, perhaps out on the prairie east of COLO SPGS.

Use realtor.com to look at Peyton, Calhan and other areas east of here. Might be possible, probably a modular home on a few acres.
